BACK TO THE FUTURE SPECIAL EFFECTS STAGE SHOW - Lot 40
____________________ Lot of 2 Original Prints of Drawings by Patrick Tatopoulos An exceptional lot of two large-format production copies, commissioned by Universal Studios for the Back to the Future Special Effects Stage attraction. Created by Patrick Tatopoulos and coming from the archives of Makeup & Effects Inc., these rare documents illustrate the design of a spectacular sequence from the interactive show. Mounted on paper and cardboard, they depict the iconic moment when Doc stands atop the Town Hall, facing the clock tower, struck by lightning, as recreated on stage. During the performance, an audience member played Doc before a flash of lightning and a sudden blackout revealed his replacement by a charred mannequin, creating a striking surprise effect. Patrick Tatopoulos, the internationally renowned French-Greek artist, is recognized for his work as an art director, production designer, and special effects supervisor on numerous major productions. Dimensions of the larger one: 50 x 40 cm. Dimensions of the smaller one: 43 x 28 cm. Both documents show several signs of wear, with discoloration near the edges and slightly curled corners. One of the papers has some warping in places (see photos).
