OSS 117: CAIRO, NEST OF SPIES - Lot 172
OSS 117: CAIRO, NEST OF SPIES (2006) Original dummy chicken used on set Dummy chicken used during the fight sequence at SCEP (Société Cairote d'Élevage de Poulets), pitting Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, alias OSS 117 (Jean Dujardin), against a mysterious assailant. Designed to be projected onto the screen, it features a feather-covered latex foam body, complete with silicone head and legs. As part of the shoot, mechanical hens were also built to simulate wing beats and defensive movements when manipulated by the actors. The aim of all these devices was to avoid injuring either the animals or the actors, while guaranteeing the realism of the scene. Dimensions: 70 cm long. Despite its intensive use during filming - the hen having been thrown numerous times - this prop is preserved today in generally good condition. Only part of the crest has separated from the head, but this has been preserved and needs to be glued back in place. The latex foam and silicone have retained their suppleness, and the overall wear is consistent with its function and use on screen (see photos). ____________________ Original Fake Chicken Used on Set This fake chicken was used during the fight scene at the SCEP (Cairo Chicken Farming Company), where Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, aka OSS 117 (Jean Dujardin), faces off against a mysterious assailant. Designed to be thrown on screen, it features a latex foam body covered in feathers, with a silicone head and legs. For the shooting, mechanical chickens were also created to simulate wing flapping and defensive movements during the actors' handling of the props. These devices were made to ensure neither the animals nor the actors were harmed while maintaining the realism of the scene. Dimensions: 70 cm in length. Despite its extensive use during filming - as the chicken was thrown multiple times - this prop is still in overall good condition. Only a part of the comb has detached from the head, but it has been preserved and needs to be reattached. The latex foam and silicone have maintained their flexibility, and the item shows wear consistent with its function and on-screen use (see photos).
