Signed and engraved n°971113 E 1/1 unique piece created in 1997. 25 x 28xx 28 cm Cf: pieces by the same artist MAD, Paris, Cité de la céramique, Sèvres and Victoria and Albert Museum, London. cf: Sebastian Munster was born in 1489 in Nieder-Ingelheim near Mainz (Germany) and died of the plague in Basel, Switzerland, in 1552. His famous "Cosmographie Universalis" is defined as one of the first descriptions of the world in all its geographical, zoological and botanical aspects, the common thread being the history of the regions described, covering Europe, Asia, Africa and the new continent America. It was published by his brother-in-law Henri Pétri in 1544. Very well documented, it offered readers of the time a window on the world. It enjoyed considerable success. It was one of the most widely read works by 16th-century scholars.
