BMW - Lot 58
BMW Motorcycles R51RS 4-stroke 1959 Frame no. 501 384 Engine no. 519902 This motorcycle is not one of the 17 made before the war, but a post-war remount. Restored in 1995 in Germany, it was authenticated in 1996 in Germany as an R51 RS with the parts corresponding to this model, but with a set of R51 /2 crankcases. It is in perfect condition and was purchased as is by our collector. This very rare BMW will only need to be restarted. BMW will have made only 17 motorcycles inspired by the pre-war compressor. These were entrusted to young riders by the factory in order to find and train the future riders the brand needed. After the 2nd World War, competition was relaunched in Germany. Motorcycles had to be found. The riders of the time went to great lengths to find and assemble motorcycles and parts that were still available. This motorcycle is the fruit of these post-war assemblies. After restoration in 1995 and authentication in 1996, we can see that it is well assembled, with original R51 RS parts and a set of R51/2 engine crankcases. It's a real racing bike, with its magnesium double-cam front hub and specific cylinders. An additional set of specific aluminum cylinders will be supplied with the bike.
