The motorcycle presented here was fully restored in the 1990s and has since covered 735 km.
A restart will be necessary.
When, in 1950, Moto Guzzi presented the Falcone model at the IAA in Geneva to replace the GTW model (dating back to 1934), its 500 cm³, 23 hp single-cylinder engine continued a mechanical tradition dating back to the 1920s.
It is characterized by its ride comfort, torque and, above all, its red and chrome-plated flywheel, earning it the nickname of "ham cutter".
The Falcone was used continuously by the Italian police and gendarmerie until the 1970s, which speaks volumes for its robustness.
The engine is the descendant of the one created in 1921 with the "Normale": horizontal single-cylinder with connecting rods and 500 cm³ rocker arms, with the "classic" Mandello del Lario bore and stroke measurements of 88 x 82 mm.
The chassis is a double tubular closed cradle, while the front suspension is a telescopic fork and the rear is the classic system introduced in 1928 with the "Norge", i.e. a swingarm with a spring below the engine, assisted by two compass shock absorbers. The foot-shift gearbox has four gears.
This enables the 170 kg engine to reach speeds of up to 135 km/h.
