MOTO MAZOYER Paris - Lot 43
MOTO MAZOYER Paris Moto Flèche d'Argent Road 500 cc 4-stroke horizontal single-cylinder 1950 Number C002 French registration We have a letter dated September 1976 in which Mr. Mazoyer replies to Mr. Kiene concerning the purchase of decals for these motorcycles. This proves that Mr. Kiene has owned the Mazoyer motorcycles since at least this date. In all, 10 motorcycles will have been made, and only 3 still exist today, including 2 in this collection. This Mazoyer road type 5004 n° C002 has 8892 km on the clock. It is in exceptional original condition, and was entirely overhauled at the time. However, it will need to be restarted. At the end of the 40s, in the Paris region, the enthusiasm of motorcyclists was slowed by gasoline rationing. In order to continue having fun, a new discipline, with events as short as they are virile, enjoyed great success: motocross. René MAZOYER, a Parisian motocross racer, set up his own team, the Flèche d'Argent. Riding bitzas based on Matchless frames fitted with different brands of engines. Not satisfied with these set-ups, he built his own BSA-inspired motocross bike at the end of 1949. In the spring of 1953, after 5 years of hard work, a civilian version was released. Presented as a modern, fast and robust touring machine, despite very good feedback from testers in the specialized press, no French manufacturer wanted to take over this marvellous bike, and the Mazoyer remained a prototype. The engine, crankshaft, gearbox, sheet metal and even suspension were all "home-made". 500 cm3, 25 HP at 5,000 rpm, 4-speed gearbox, oil-pressurized engine.
