BENELLI Motorcycle Leoncino 125 cc 4-stroke vertical single-cylinder 1956 French collector's registration The bike is in superb original condition. A complete overhaul was carried out some twenty years ago. A restart will be necessary. Using a simple overhead camshaft driven by a cascade of sprockets since the '30s, the Pesaro-based brand introduced the Leoncino (Italian for "little lion") in 1956. The flowing, egg-shaped engine is raised at 45° and extended by a polished aluminum crankcase covering the shaft. The 6hp engine has a dry sump, and with a 4-speed gearbox it reached a good 90 km/h. But it was far too expensive to build compared with the competition, which limited production.
