AGF - Lot 19
AGF Motorcycle Prototype, one-off 250 cc AMC engine Vertical single-cylinder overhead camshaft 1953-1955 Serial no.: 500045 French car registration document (sidecar) This incredible motorcycle is the original prototype presented at the 1953 Paris Motor Show. It is absolutely original, unrestored, with its period paintwork. Acquired in 1995, it has 6280 original km on the odometer. A complete overhaul will be necessary. Establishments AGF for André FAIZANT, in Colombes near Paris, made only 125 and 175 cm3 scooters and motorcycles. In 1953, they designed and built an original 250 prototype using the fine French AMC 250 engine of the day, a single camshaft chain-driven 4-speed gearbox. Surfing on the fashion for full motorcycle fairings, used here more for fluidity and aerodynamics, it is made entirely of aluminum. With its 15-inch wheels, the bike was one of the most successful at the 1953 Paris Motor Show. The entire rear section is made up of a cast aluminum shell separating longitudinally into two parts, and incorporating lights and license plate. The 15-liter fuel tank extends into the headlamp, with a console housing indicator lights, neutral, speedometer and rev counter. The whole thing rests on a frame whose two large lower tubes serve as exhaust pipes. The front features a "Semi Earles" suspension system, while the rear swingarm is cushioned by rubber blocks providing 12 cm of travel.
