MV AGUSTA - Lot 18
MV AGUSTA
Motorcycles
Mini bike racing
50 cc
2-stroke horizontal single-cylinder
1974-1975
This model has been in the collection since the 1980s. It is a second-hand model in perfect original, unrestored condition.
It has the particularity of having been autographed on the tank by Phil READ, during the Legends Motorcycle Cups several years ago.
This is the first commercialized version with 8-inch wheels.
It will need to be rebuilt.
In 1973, MV AGUSTA became world champion in the 500 class with Phil READ.
The factory decided to build a 50cc replica for children, which their world champion could give to his son.
The good publicity received by the 50, including the black-and-white photo of Phil READ sitting on the Mini Bike begging two parking ticket clerks to let him off with just a warning, resulted in the production of a limited number of units for the rest of the 1970s.
The Mini Bike was made in-house at the factory - it's a genuine MV, only the engine was bought in from outside.
Three versions existed, the first with 8" wheels, then 10" and finally 12".
The engine is a 47.6 cm3 Franco MORINI 2T with Dellorto carburetor and centrifugal clutch.
