The rug is embellished with numerous small elongated polychrome medallions, extended by two small pendants on a red background. A border of small red and ivory medallions with geometric floral motifs surrounds the composition.

"The term Chirvan designates both a type of carpet and a region where a great many carpets are produced. Indeed, it is a vast, mountainous region inhabited by a heterogeneous population. It stretches from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea, forming a natural barrier between Europe and Asia.
Chirvan carpets are knotted in cities (Kuba, Dagestan) and villages (Tchi tchi, seikour, Pérépédil...).
