Chirvan perepédil rug - Lot 258
Chirvan perepédil rug
Wool warp, weft and pile
The navy-blue field is adorned with the complex decoration typical of rugs of this origin, organized around a white octagon and a red star rosette alternating with ample curvilinear motifs, often related to the heraldic ram's horn motif, but probably derived from the geometrization of plant motifs.
On the sides, stylized saber hilt motifs also echoing the ram's horn motif and curious stylized animals clash. The rest of the field is covered with minor polychrome stylized motifs. The field is framed by a main ivory border of multicolored flower garlands, set between two thin counter-borders.
