RIEDER Wilhem (1796-1880) Study of a naked man Pencil and white stone on blue paper, signed and dated 1817 lower center Height 50,5 ; Width : 430 cm (some folds, a small tear in the lower left corner) Provenance: former collection of Benedikt Moser (1898-1988) known as Benno Moser, Lugt 1828a. References: The counterpart of this drawing is in the Print and Drawing Room of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, number HZ26344. Another academic study dated 1819, but without the provenance, is preserved there under HZ26345. A companion study entitled "Nude Standing Man Holding Two Bars," dated 1817, from the same Benno Moser collection, is currently in the Print and Drawing Room of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. A third, later academic drawing, dated 1819 and without provenance, is also preserved in Vienna.
